4Kids looses 2million from third quarter 2005. Thoughts? are they really going to bounce back?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4Kids Entertainment reported a $256,000 loss in the third quarter of 2006, with revenues falling $2 million from third quarter 2005. 4Kids CEO Al Kahn cited declining revenue from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, though he noted the release of the Turtles CGI film in March 2007 should increase its value again. Kahn also noted a decline in the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise, which continues its fall after leveling out last quarter. In addition to the upcoming Turtles film, the "late spring" release of the Chaotic trading card game is expected to bump up revenue, according to Kahn, as well as continued success from the Viva Pinata TV show, which is based on the video game from Microsoft. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=9785

  1. Unless they can aquire some new and interesting anime or cartoon, they might face another loss. Or, if they can cut back on the heavy editing, I'm sure that more people would be willing to support them.
  2. I'm not really sure, but I'll say this. Not a lot of anime fans are pleased with their favorite shows being censored and brought down to children's shows. One Piece being a good example. Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh had excellent success during the past few years (I mean, Pokemon was out when I was 14 years old! I'm 22 now). Kids shows just aren't what they used to be, that's all. Most are probably watching Cartoon Network or Disney or Nick Saturday Mornings.
  3. I dont think so. a lot of anime fans are really mad at 4Kids for their horrible anime dubs. unless they stay truer to the animes, i doubt they'll have fans anymore.
